Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)

The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program offers free tax help for all taxpayers, particularly those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. The IRS-certified volunteers who provide tax counseling are often retired individuals associated with non-profit organizations that receive grants from the IRS. When looking for a TCE site keep in mind that a majority of the TCE sites are operated by the AARP Foundation’s Tax Aide program.

How to find services: Use the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Locator Tool or call (888) 227-7669 to find your nearest AARP TCE site.

See what you need to bring with you when you go to your local TCE site.

TCE sites are still being added to the locator for 2020. Please check back regularly if the locator does not show a site near you. Most IRS TCE sites are open from February through April, though some are open through October.
