If Children Services finds that a child is unsafe or at risk of harm, the agency helps the family improve the child’s safety through connecting them with programs and services.

Each family has different strengths and challenges. Children Services can connect you with a variety of programs and services to help, such as:
- Parenting classes. Parenting classes teach you about topics like nutrition, child safety, discipline strategies and more.
- Counseling. Counseling helps you with specific problems your family faces.
- Childcare. Children Services can connect you with childcare resources that may help while you work, attend school or go to important appointments.
- Programs for drug and alcohol problems. If you or someone in your family is struggling with drugs or alcohol, Children Services can connect you with substance use treatment and support services.
- Assistance with housing and food. Children Services can connect you with resources that may help with housing, food and other needs for your family.
- Medical care. Children Services can help connect your family to appropriate medical care and other health-related services.
- Transportation. Children Services may help arrange transportation or connect you with transportation resources for doctor appointments, school, court-ordered visits, and other important needs.
- Job skills and training. Children Services can connect you with programs that provide job training and employment support.
- Help for domestic violence. If your family experiences domestic violence, Children Services provides resources to help.
- Early-childhood development. Children Services can connect your family with early childhood programs, such as pre-K and Head Start, that support your child’s learning, development and health.
